Water Fall On Browns CreekThis spectacular waterfall is found approximately 3 miles from the trailhead. It is a little-known gem in the Sawatch Mountain Range. This hike features beautiful wildflowers in the summer, and is a great fishing stream. Cutthroat and Brook Trout are caught in the stream flowing along the trail. In the winter, this area presents a beautiful snowshoe hike. The setting of the waterfall takes place under majestic Jones Peak (13,569 ft.). Should you choose to continue, the hike leads past the falls, taking you up the canyon to Brown’s Lake (5.5 miles). Dogs are also allowed on this trail.


Directions to Brown’s Creek Falls and Lake

The trailhead is found in Raspberry Gulch, just east of Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort.

Take CR 162 0.5 miles east of the resort, turn right on CR 270 and continue for 5 miles until you intersect CR 272. Take right on CR 272 and follow the dirt road 3.5 miles to the trailhead.

  1. Water (1.5 Liters per person per 5-6 hours)
  2. Snacks (Beef Jerky, nuts, power bar)
  3. Navigation (map and compass and/or GPS)
  4. Sunscreen
  5. Extra clothing (hat, socks, gloves)
  6. First aid supplies
  7. Light (headlamp or flashlight)
  8. Fire starter and matches/lighter
  9. CD Rom or mirror, whistle, mosquito repellant
  10. Emergency shelter (Biffy Bag)
