Avalanche Trail Gulch

Hiking & Hot Springs

MOUNT PRINCETON HOT SPRINGS RESORT

Avalanche Trail Gulch

Length of Hike: 6.1 miles one way to CR 365

Difficulty: Difficult

The first 2 miles of this hike is fairly steep, following a switchback trail before leveling out. After 3 miles, you will come to Silver Creek trailhead (9,360 ft.), which is the east ridge of Mt. Yale. After reaching Silver Creek, 3 additional miles of trail will lead you to intercept CR 365 which leads into the Horn Fork Basin.

Avalanche Trail follows the north-most 6 miles of Segment 13 on the Colorado Trail. Segment 13 in its entirety is 18.5mi, extending from CR 365 (your ending point) all the way to Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort.

Because of the steepness of the trail as well as the reputation of the trail disappearing from time to time, Avalanche Trail Gulch is recommended for experienced hikers.
