The burial ground pays witness to the harsh life of the 19th century miner. Many who are buried in the Iron Ore City Graveyard in the late 1800’s died from disease, mining accidents, or murder. The most recent burial here was in 2008.

Directions to Iron Ore City Graveyard Drive & Hike
This trail is 7mi west of Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort on CR 162. Take right on CR 292, .5mi before reaching the ghost town of St. Elmo. CR 292 leads to the Iron City Campground and Graveyard

1.3 miles: see the remains of the first hydroelectric plant in the west (left)
1.8 miles: Memorial of Irene 20yds from the road (left)
2.5 miles: beautiful scenic vantage point
Also located 3 miles down CR 292 is an alpine lake which has wonderful shoreline views
(This is a private lake; fishing is not allowed)
3.4 miles: town of Alpine
5.7 miles: bridge connecting back to CR 162 which will take you back to the resort
