Princeton Towers & Chalet Trail

Hiking & Hot Springs

Princeton Towers & Chalet

Length of Hike: 3.2 miles to Towers; 6.5 miles to Chalet (one way)

Difficulty: Difficult

Mt. Princeton (14,196ft) is the most majestic and popular of the mountains in the Collegiate Peaks. In the 3.2 miles to the Towers, you will gain approximately 1,800ft. Travel the whole 6.5 miles to the Chalet, and you will gain 5,400ft!

Princeton Chalet Road is not only for hikers. It also serves as an ATV/Jeep road that takes you well above timberline on the southern slope. The road will test the nerves of experienced drivers as it switchbacks its way up the mountain and then traverses to the south before crossing a large avalanche chute. The chalet marks the end of this road and serves as an evacuation site for hikers coming off Mt. Princeton. The building is maintained by the local Young Life community and contains canned goods and other survival essentials. When you visit the chalet, sign the guest book, as it will give you some insight as to who has visited prior to you.
