During the winter Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort enjoys the distinction as a world class base for snowmobiling. This resort is located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains and is surrounded by thousands of miles of groomed snowmobile trails and millions of acres of public land. You will not have trouble finding a full day of discovery and fun.
Enjoy Colorado’s winter landscape while snowmobiling. Chaffee County, Colorado is the premier snowmobiling destination in the west, offering over 35 inches of snow each winter, an extensive trail system and an unmatched capacity for one to snowmobile over 100 miles in a single day.
Make plans to snowmobile from Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort in Colorado this winter. The St. Elmo trailhead is just 12 miles from the resort and the Cottonwood Pass Trailhead is just 20 miles away. Snowmobiling on Marshall Pass is also a great trail groomed by the Salida snowmobile club. Guided tours as well as snowmobile rentals are available nearby in the towns of Buena Vista and Salida.
The Colorado snowmobile trail system is funded on a snowmobile registration system. There is no trail fees required, but all Colorado residents must register their snowmobiles in order to ride in Colorado. The annual snowmobile registration fee in Colorado is $30.25. Registrations are valid from October 1st through September 30th each season.
Out-of-state residents who bring snowmobiles into Colorado must purchase a Colorado Non-Resident Snowmobile permit which is valid from the date of purchase through the following September 30th. Permits can be purchased by mail or ordered online at the Colorado State Parks E-Store.Three different snowmobile clubs groom the snowmobile trails in the area.
